"We came to UCLA after being treated for more than 2 years because of infertility. We were absolutely hopeless and discouraged about becoming parents. Having a baby had become such a distant dream for us; nevertheless, the reality of getting pregnant was too difficult to achieve. I was given a possibly wrong diagnosis at another healthcare facility in LA which made us think about surrogacy as a prominent alternative. My life was ruined, and I was in tears all the time due to having the thought of not being able to experience the amazing journey of pregnancy. After my surgery got cancelled at the other medical facility, I was recommended to contact UCLA at once to confer with the infertility team there. What initially amazed us was the courteous way that the IVF staff at UCLA approached us. They were all very meticulous about their job, and all of them were absolutely on top of their tasks. Dr. Daniel Dumesic, the division chief at UCLA infertility department, was my preferred specialist. He initially took a thorough look at my heavy, thick medical record that I had brought with me from the other facility. I immediately started feeling very comfortable and confident after a long time of being distressed about possible negative outcomes of my conversations with any infertility specialist. I was not scared this time at all.
Primarily, Dr. Dumesic took his time and spoke to us in depth. He looked at my history and walked us through his examination plans as well as his treatment options. I was at peace because I noticed he was trying to take one step at a time and taking everything into a different perspective than what I was told before. Dr. Dumesic never rushed to draw any conclusion without having necessary tests done, and we were absolutely pleased with his methodology. Dr. Dumesic’s strategy was to gather necessary information as such his treatment options would be less risky, and that approach immediately made us realize we finally came to the right healthcare facility and chose the most suitable specialist after all. The good news was that all of those tests and diagnostic appointments were scheduled without any delay, so unlike most medical facilities in LA, we didn’t have to wait for a long time just to get started. After surgery, Dr. Dumesic personally came to my bed to discuss with us what his diagnosis was, and what our options were in order to get pregnant. Fortunately, we were all on agreement on starting IVF as soon as I was ready. It was a joyful moment for all of us because after 2 years we started gaining hope again; a hope that was presented to us by UCLA’s IVF team who treated us like family. Dr. Dumesic and his professional IVF staff started taking care of me the best way possible. All of my appointments at UCLA were scheduled immediately, necessary tests were ordered and performed, important medical information was discussed with us, and most importantly we were given the option to contact UCLA IVF team at anytime we desired. I believe the level of communication at UCLA is superb, and I have never seen any other healthcare facility to be as responsive and caring as the IVF staff at UCLA is. Dr. Dumesic’s IVF nurse was always available to answer my phone calls or emails without making me wait at all, and that was very helpful during IVF cycle which can be emotionally and physically challenging. Until today, I have not seen any medical team to be so aware of every detail of their patient’s progress the way UCLA is.
Eventually, we started our IVF under Dr. Dumesic’s direct care. He is by far the most dedicated physician I have ever seen. He is very skillful, knowledgeable, aware of circumstances, and up-to- date about medical and technological advancements in the world. But, what makes Dr. Dumesic different than any other RE (reproductive endocrinologist) in town and made him become my hero in my journey of motherhood, is his unforgettable etiquette and his sincere humane character. He truly cares about his patients during such an emotionally strenuous time of trying to conceive. His passionate way of interacting with his patients made us become very faithful in his approach. He is very gracious and pays attention to different dimensions of medical field including psychological side of it. We could not ask for a better physician than Dr. Dumesic.
My husband and I truly believe in UCLA’s outstanding vision with respect to following areas:
High Level of Communication
Ease of Appointments
Excellent Bedside Manners
Accuracy of Diagnosis
Timely Treatments
Nurturing Patient- Doctor Relationship
Professional Attitude
State- of- the- art Technology
Affordable Medicine
We are one happy couple now that I am almost 4 months pregnant with our first child. We do believe that there is an absolutely great reason why UCLA is the number one hospital in The US West Coast and the fifth hospital in the whole nation when it comes to quality of care as we were touched by their professional and personal uniqueness. We are blessed to have been treated in LA’s local paradise called “UCLA’s IVF Department” and being taken care of by Dr. Dumesic, his IVF nurse, and other members of his team. They do a fantastic job in getting you the right medical treatments based on your needs. Yes, miracles do happen right near us, at our local hospital, UCLA. Now you probably know why we were motivated enough to take the drive from Irvine to UCLA during IVF just to be treated by Dr. Dumesic and his IVF team at UCLA."
